MBMA Member
The Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) serves as the leading voice of the metal building systems industry, providing research, technical resources, and education that advance the use of metal building systems across the construction market. MBMA plays a key role in guiding engineering best practices and supporting the development of building codes and design standards that improve consistency, safety, and performance throughout the industry.
Building Systems member companies like Chief Buildings are full-scale manufacturers that provide complete metal building solutions—including structural engineering, steel framing fabrication, roof and wall systems, and accessory components—for low-rise, non-residential construction projects.
Chief Buildings is a long-time, active MBMA member, with team members who contribute directly through MBMA committees and subcommittees. This participation goes beyond membership—it’s a commitment to helping strengthen the industry through shared research, stronger standards, and ongoing technical education. By supporting MBMA’s work and collaborating with other leaders in the industry, we help elevate metal building systems as a reliable, high-performance solution—while reinforcing the credibility, quality, and engineering confidence our customers expect from Chief.
Choosing a member of the MBMA helps ensure that standards are followed and quality is maintained.
IAS AC472 Accredited
IAS is a subsidiary of the International Code Council (ICC), a nonprofit professional association and leader in the building construction industry worldwide. ICC is dedicated to developing the International Codes and standards used in the design, build and compliance process to construct safe, sustainable, affordable and resilient structures.
IAS accredits the inspection programs of companies that design and fabricate custom engineered metal building systems. The accreditation is based on requirements in IAS Accreditation Criteria AC472, International Building Code® and related standards. The accreditation criteria covers inspections of metal building system elements that are essential for designing, specifying, building or approving metal building systems.
Verification that approved manufacturers meet requirements as described in Chapter 17 of the IBC (The benchmark for companies that design and manufacture engineered metal building systems), provides a level of confidence that buildings will be designed and manufactured according to code and specifications.
Companies with the IAS Accreditation mark have been evaluated for their technical competence and quality of service and have proven that their practices meet recognized standards.
MBCEA Member
The Metal Building Contractors & Erectors Association (MBCEA) is a trade association that provides programs and services to the contractor and erector segments of the metal building industry. The association has membership from virtually every aspect of the industry. The MBCEA is not just for contractors and erectors. Many industry-related suppliers are members as well. Through Chief’s association, we can learn from each other about new products, new processes, and new trends to stay current and be competitive.
The MBCEA has developed the IAS Accreditation Program, AC478. The IAS AC478 program for erectors complements the IAS AC472 program for manufacturers. We recommend choosing both a manufacturer and an erector accredited through these programs.
